A Phoenix Police Officer was arrested on Tuesday just after 8 p.m. and held on suspicion of sexual misconduct with two teenage boys.
Officer Christopher Wilson, 43 worked with the Valley’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender department as the department’s community liaison. He worked with several groups in the community. He was someone the organizations could share their concerns with.
A 14-year-old boy was the first to come forward when he notified his parents about the alleged abuse that lasted about 3 weeks. The investigation also revealed a second victim a 17-year-old boy, who told police of his relationship with Wilson that lasted about 3 to 4 months. He met the 17-year-old through police work, police will not release how he met the 14 year-old boy because his name could be discovered.
The sexual encounters took place at Wilson’s home and other private locations, where he allegedly had sex with the boys while off duty. Wilson admitted to the abuse and resigned. There has been no evidence that any other officers were involved.
Fellow officers were surprised about the allegations and said that even though Chris was gay they did not think this could ever happen. Police Chief Daniel Garcia said that this is a tragic incident and was a disturbing violation of the community’s trust. Wilson was a 13 year veteran.
Wilson faces 10 counts of sexual misconduct with a minor. It is unknown at this time if there are any other victims. Police believe there could be more and ask that anyone with information come forward.
