Phoenix police were notified on Monday of an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student that included sexual contact. Kimberly Ali, 28, was taken into custody and booked on nine counts of sexual conduct with a minor and five counts of sexual abuse.
The victim is a 14 year old girl at Sonoran Sky Elementary school in Phoenix where Kimberly Ali teaches special education, but was not the girls teacher. Phoenix police say the girl’s mother discovered inappropriate text messages on her daughters cell phone from Kimberly Ali, and contacted the authorities.
After an interview with the victim investigators were advised of emails and Facebook messages in addition to the text messages. The messages indicated that Ali and the victim were involved in an inappropriate relationship. The Phoenix Crimes Against Children Unit said contact began as early as April but didn’t turn into a physical relationship until July.
Ali told detectives that she knew it was wrong but fell in love with the girl and got carried away, forgetting about her age. Ali admitted to picking up the girl near her home then parking behind a Fry’s grocery store and engaging in sexual activities. The sexual conduct happened multiple times in a two week period.
Police do not believe any of the incidents occurred on school property. It is not known at this time if Kimberly Ali has an attorney.
